We are delighted that The Herald has highlighted the launch of the Scottish Castles Association Archive, a major initiative to help record, preserve and share Scotland’s remarkable castle heritage.
Developed in partnership with the University of Stirling Archives, the Archive brings together historic photographs, research and documentary material to create a lasting, freely accessible resource for everyone interested in Scotland’s castles and fortified heritage.
By documenting what survives, understanding what is changing and drawing attention to buildings at risk, the Archive aims to support future research, raise awareness and help secure Scotland’s castles for generations to come.
This is an important milestone for the Scottish Castles Association and everyone who has contributed collections, expertise and support to the project. But there is much more to do, and we hope the Archive will inspire others to get involved.
