Spring Castles Tour of Tayside

We can now reveal the full itinerary of our forthcoming Castles Tour of Tayside – and we’d love to see you there!
Saturday: We will visit Claypotts Castle (an iconic Z-plan castle which has granted us a special opening), Broughty Castle, (stunning location and fascinating museum/gallery), Hospitalfield House for a delicious lunch and tour of the house, garden, fernery and Mortuary Chapel – a cornucopia of renovations, architecture and visual arts! To end the day we have the ruins of Panmure Castle to visit to transport us back to the 12th century.
Sunday: We will start in Mains Castle, an events venue, then visit Fowlis Castle, home to agricultural engineers, and Ballantyne House, a delightful home with a great backstory of social philanthropy. After lunch at Piperdam Resort, we will move on to Pitcur Castle, now devoid of the surrounding steadings, and view the skeletal remains of Evelick Castle, still standing in its farmyard overlooking the Tay Estuary. We will be hosted at Megginch Castle with tea and tours of the house and garden to round off a great weekend.
For those arriving early there will be an optional afternoon visit on Friday 19th April to Fingask Castle, with tea and homemade cakes, at the invitation of Andrew Threipland of Fingask.
Our AGM will take place on Saturday 20th April at 6.30pm in the Landmark Hotel, Dundee.
Bookings close on Saturday 6th April.
